Epic-Comic

Just when I think I've cleared my schedule for summer and relaxation to focus on art and writing.

Just when I think it happens.

We (Leppy, Schemes, and I) decide to start a web-comic (called "Epic-Comic", featuring us and our daemons). xD Now, I'm very excited, but also slightly apprehensive about exactly what that's going to involve. I've spent pretty much all my time that I got to in my room working on stuff for it, and I still haven't made Scheme's T-shirt design (a fox named Drag).

So, I have a new "Things To-Do" list:

[For now]

Finish (start) Scheme's T-Shirt design.

Come up with a plot for the comic so we can release SOMETHING before school starts and I'm swamped. xD

Work on podcast stuff with EC peeps (Leppy and Schemes).

Work on comic and characters.

Figure out how to draw people.

[For the summer]

Mod and RP on FCoTF.

Write 2000 words a day.

Paint. At least 3 things.

Complete 2 hyper-realisms in Photoshop.

Remember, children, never meet people off the internet . . .

I'VE MET A WWian (finally xD)!

After messing around forever in Google maps and discovering that we live 6.4 miles away from each other, that our birthdays are one day apart, and that she's going to the same school as several of my friends, Leopardstripe and I decided we had to get together. So, we'll be going to Comic-Con (San Diego) together, cosplaying as Ravenpaw (her) and Barley (me).

BUT WE DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT THAT LONG! >D

So, yesterday, we met each other at the local mall and had one hell of a good time! xD I thought they were going to get the mall cops on us, but I did get a keychain from a guy named Mr. Happy. xD Long story, but we've got pictures!

Anteaters and Graphics

HOMG, Leafstar painted something. WFT, it's an anthro-anteater.

Heheh, yeah. -Sheepish grin- Father's Day present . . . my step-dad (well, not technically yet, I suppose) works at the University of California, Irvine, whose mascot is an anteater, so I watercolored one drinking Starbucks as a gift.

And, the competition in WW for the graphics battle continues! Round Three's theme was LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan. I chose LionClan, because Skyran would have eaten me otherwise. ^^

Looking at it now, I'm not so thrilled with it, but I liked it when I made it. >.<

And I now officially support BluestarxRedtail (which should be cannon, but Redtail died as soon as we met him xD). {x}

Almost done with school for the year . . . -Pants- Had finals today (Spanish and Math) and they went a lot better (or so I think, haven't gotten the grades yet) than I thought they would . . . I may have gotten an A in the math one though, and if I did . . . -Will die of pleasure-

I've got English tomorrow, and just spent the last hour or so fixing the study guide I'd made a bunch of people because I finally found my notebook and realized some of the facts were wrong. Just sent it out again, I hope they get it . . . [/random] Hebrew tomorrow too . . . shouldn't be too bad. I'm pretty good at the listening tests.

Last day of school is tomoorrrooooow! And after that I can do all the internet-mongoing, reading, novel-writing, art, and whatever the heck I want for a week and a half until I go away for sleep away camp where there it no internet and computers. xD

ANYWAY.

So yeah . . . more graphics from the WW-wide graphics battle! Round two was Warriors love triangles, and because I was so stumped for ideas, I kind of made one up and went with BluestarxWhitestormxTigerclaw. Twisted, I know, but I'm a BluexWhite shipper and sort of a BluexTiger shipper so it works.

It's back!

No more quick re-direct to my deviantART, but since summer's here (three more days of school!) I'll have a lot more time to be blogging.

Also, I'm trying to volunteer as a graphic designer at a Big Cat Rescue, so, this is my portfolio, if you will.

Needless to say, in the next several days, there may be mass uploading. xD

And StarClan, I need to change the layout.

Hah, I've tried several different kind of pictures today, and they all got screwed up one way or another. So I drew a picture on paper just to make myself feel better. xD I kind of like how it turned out, so I'll probably upload it and try to color it tomorrow. It'll be an attempt at a realistic style similar to Zowolf's art.

Hah! I might have actually figured out a fursona (that I'll actually stick with), but I want to test it out and make certain I won't change my mind in another two weeks. >.<>x} (Which are by the amazing Khaosdog.)

Yeah . . . I know I haven't updated in like, forever, but I'm lazy, we all know that. Plus, I get confused whether I should be using this blog or the one on DeviantART. XD I'll probably eventually end up switching to that one, because I rarely upload graphics here anymore, which was the whole purpose, as I upload any art to dA, and then forget to put it here . . .

Ooh, oh, but I downloaded the coolest program yesterday called Shapeshifter which uses skins and codes to change the layout of my computer. {x}

It's Passover themed! Which I didn't think of till afterwards, but the frogs work!

I love this picture . . . I managed some gradient shading.

Oh, and a new guild layout, because I needed to make a spring layout for Warriors: the New Generation. Our winter one was getting old, and I needed to kick the RP in the seat of the pants and jump start it a bit.

That's Hebrew for Happy Purim!

We're not going into the whole story behind the holiday, but it's pretty fun, and we got to wear costumes to school and I ate over 18 Hamantaschen (these triangle cookies with various fillings) in under 2 days. I munched on 13 at school, complementary of wherever school got them from. xD Yumyumyum . . .

I went as a Ravenclaw. ^^ My poor friend went as a Gryffindor and kept getting called Mrs. Potter. >D But I was safe! Muhahahah!

New Layout!

Yay for Flickr.com and Phtoshop! I wanted something wolf-themed, and after working on a layout for a wolf RP site a friend of mine has, I was so happy with the results for that, I recycled some of my ideas. =D I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Some cool things going on . . . my friend Lightningstar and I did an awesome podcast with Blizz for The Darkest Half-Hour (which we're now going to have to call The Darkest Hour-and-a-Half). xD That was a huge amount of fun, and hopefully we'll get to do it again soon.

I revived our site for spoofy Warriors videos (sort of like Potter Puppet Pals), but with Warriors character. So, Commedy Clans Channel is running and up again, with two new things on it! One is a parody of the Prologue from the Sight, and the second was a song my brother, Mudpaw, and his friend, Firepaw, composed around the holidays that I just never uploaded, called the 12 Days of Leaf-Bare.

Yo, people, you don't need to tell us our singing sucks, either. xD We know that already.

Okay, so, here's a public service announcement from Leafstar: if you are a hypochondriac, do not, I repeat, do not watch House. I did so last night, and I couldn't fall asleep 'till 3am and slept with my lights on. x.x I'm such a wuss.

Okay, because I couldn't think of anything I could digitally do satisfactorily, I decided to open up a multi-purpose shop on Ww. Yay! Now I have things I have to draw and get done!

So, today, I finished the commission for Kaze, of her . . . bloodthirsty beagle character . . . 0_o.

How To Save a Life

A little belatedly, I fell in love with the Fray song, How To Save a Life, which I suppose was very popular last year because it was the theme song of Grey's Anatomy (which obviously I don't watch). xD

So, I listened to it 7 or 8 times, decided I ought to try a new style of digital artwork, and this is what came out . . .

The preview isn't great, but if you click on it, you get a nice big picture from it's link on DeviantART. Yay. =)

Just for the record, that took forever, certainly over 4.5 hours, mostly because it involved drawing every single hair on that wolf. That's Midrash, by the way . . . oh yeah. Thror's in the background the melancholy part of the picture . . . it's all metaphorical, but I'm the only one who'd know what it meant, because I'm the only one who's read the darn manuscript so far, as I'm writing it. Once again: xD

And, OH! Leafstar changed her fursona again! It's now a striped hyena, which are pretty drawn pwnsome if I do say so myself. I saw one at the San Diego Zoo a few times lately, and ever since them, I've just loved them. I've been re-reading the Jannel Cannon book, Pinduli, several times over, and trying to use her style of drawing these awesome animals, which, d'you know, aren't actually related to dogs or wolves? Nope, their closest relative is a mongoose, who'd have thought? Actually, scientists don't really know where they came from, but they are a really unique species, and they are very good fun to draw. I picked it because its a lot easier to draw than a black-footed ferret, and is more in-sync with the "furry" community on dA, but not your average wolf.

I'll have a reference up soon for meh.

And you'll have noticed that the old layout is back . . . I recently wrote to Jannel Cannon, who of course, wrote Verdi, thanking her for all her art and stories that have helped me in more ways than one. I thought I should put it back up in tribute to Verdi.

Unfortunately, I didn't win the $500 prize to the overall person -grumbles-, but hey, I got to submit my project to the county for screening, and then we'll find out if I can go to the county fair, and then hopefully onto the state rounds! -Crosses fingers-

So, if any of you guys in SoCal happen to see a project called "The Daphnia Dilemma: an experiment in micro-biology and environmental toxicology," then you'll know it's me, and stop by the board and say hi, or something, just to freak me out. xD Stalkers!

Just had to steal that line from PBS (don't know if non-Californian's are familiar with it . . . but PBS is a Public Broadcasting Station that focuses on enrichment, science, and learning. They're funded by donations, and that's like their catchphrase). PBS=<3 this lovely (if I do say so myself) photomanip, I had to call it that. I went on dA, and downloaded a whole bunch of pwnsome new brushes and textures, so it was a bit of an experiment. It's now my siggy on Ww, so some of you may have seen it.

Gah, I'm just sort of a mess right now. I don't know if it's normal teenage hormones or what, but I just fall apart over every little thing. -Bangs head against desk- It probably doesn't help that I'm overly emotional anyway. But I just spazzed about five minutes ago, because we had never gotten this form I needed for my school semester, about the number of community service hours I had done (my school requires a certain amount), and they were like, due today. Of course, we didn't know because we missed out on a bunch of this stuff after I transferred to the school . . . but it's just nuts. I love it there, but everything's more complicated, and so much harder to keep track of. Luckily, I found a new one off their website, and filled it out, but honestly, who bursts into tears because of that?

I know that's probably boring and whatnot for you guys to read, but I just needed to get it out. I feel so stupid sometimes. Everyone is just feeling icky and depressed and angsty right now, I guess as well. All of Warriors Wish is basically drowning in everyone else's tears, and it's making me so, just, upset, to see the community just fall apart all of a sudden. Now, I'm normally a very happy-go-lucky, take-it-as-it-comes sort of person, so if I'M dissolving in puddles of tears all of a sudden, you know we've got a problem. (Not that Ww has anything whatsoever to due with me crying or anything, that's just me. But everyone else seems to be going through it too.)

So, hang in there guys! Stop worrying about this whole "golden age" thing, and just try and get past these Dark Ages thingamabobs. Yeah, we're all in the loos, but we'll get past them, if we stop fighting amongst ourselves, and just try to be there for each other. Believe me--I'm one of the people who helps regularly answer problems and crisises (sp?) on the Depression Thread, and what I've been seeing lately is making me depressed. C'mon guys, we can do it! We've always been there for each other before, don't give up now, just because you feel crappy, or because you feel like a Dementor is hanging over your shoulder. A big 'ole Ww Patronus, right? -Grins weakly-

Sorry this post was more of a sob your heart out thing, but it helps to be able to chuck your thoughts and feelings into cyberspace for people to read, without analyzing you on the level they'd do if they know you face-to-face.

Oh, on the happy side . . . meh science fair project is getting submitted to the County level after getting past the school's competition (I'll find out my place on Tuesday), and I'm getting involved with some of the art programs there, even though I'm not in High School yet. The art teacher is awesome, and he's working with some of the advanced art students to work on new classes for the arts department, and he's letting me help, so I'm very honored about that. -Hugs French Horn and drawings-

And speaking of drawings, I wish Lightningstar, one of my best buddies, a very happy /belated/ 14th birthday! The reason this relates to drawings is because I drew her a picture of her fursona, {x}, and then did a spurr of the moment photomanip from some stock I was exploring on Sobi.org (the coolest photography website ever, I must say.) {x}

Leafstar has a new friend . . . and his name is Tontos! xD

Now, as everyone's probably like: 0______0, Leafstar, WTSC?, I'll explain. Tontos is a little fun, banana loving rainforest puppy I drew in Spanish due to stress from finals. I needed something happy like that. So Tontos, (and his toucan friend Irash) have been born. I've found I love this character. He's just so much fun to work with--his poses are silly, not everything has to be perfect and streamlined, the shading is fun (for once!), and I get to draw bananas. Lots and lots of 'em.

Impossibilities

I did a nice enough digital pic of Crowfeather and Leafpool cuddling for the competition on Ww for the CrowxLeaf FST (fan sound track). Belatedly, I realized it looked more like GrayxMillie, but it was a big of good practice with some new brush lineart tecniques. Link for dA submission: {x}.

I also checked out some pretty cool photo-manipulations on dA, inspired by the winged cats that Clove/Sandstar likes to do. I found some pretty awesome ones that were strange crosses between animals, so of course, I had to make one. {x}.

Thror Poem

Well, as the focus of my blog is . . . CREATIVITY -rainbows flash-, I figure I might as well post this here.
I'm currently sitting in English class, and we just had to write poems. Naturally, I wrote a very, very long one. xD It's about a character from my Novel, Light of the North, and was the main character of my NaNo, named Thror. He was Midrash's predecessor, and was chosen by the Elements to bring their power into the world, but failed miserably when he corrupted it in Soctov'ac.

Anyway, because I had no idea what to write my poem about, I did a Beowulf, and wrote one on his story. No one's really gonna understand it, but whatever. Since my stupid account on the school's Citrix isn't working with microsoft word, and I don't feel like getting the format messed up in my email, and as this blog is supposed to also be for my strange and Edger Allen Poe-style writing, you all lucky fellows get to read it!

From darkness came the blinding snow,
In blizzard north it shook and blow,
From out of midnight came powers dark,
As around the world lie stark.

The first wolf growling from the sky,
Send a sign to those who try,
The survivors few of nature's grasp,
In the frozen northland's clasp.

A new cub brought forth to the mate,
Thror was his name and that of great,
Blessed him so the Elements true,
The birth of nature weaving through.

Come forth the fearful fighting, and the might,
Lost did he know his ever plight,
From the wolves of shrunken sight,
Cme the howls that shook the night.

Fear the Dark Ones, run you fast!
Should the night time fail to last,
Till dawn would break and be the key,
To his great epiphany.

Find the mountain, eagle's cry,
He charged through snow and flew so by,
As they pursued him on his paws,
Snapping back with iron jaws.

Stopped in front of mountains keep,
Stood young Thror, and sadness reap,
With his Gaurdian stout and true,
Called but Aquila was the few.

A new wolf came, his vengence own,
Eyes glinting cold as a stone,
Grey pelt thick and matted streak,
Glared at Aquila's vicious beak.

Said Loki, "Let her never enter,
"Lest the Dark Ones find our Center.
LIttle did young Thror but know,
The Center's where the darkness grow.

Apprentice young but so days came,
Till Ination brought forth shame.
Could not until the Darkness near,

Could nor become a Dark One here.

"I shall run but again," cried Thror,

As more snarls lashed and wolf cries roar,

"A traitor here has kept me away,

From the lights of the growing day."

And so Thror escaped from the Newfound Dark,

Running again till Aquila's hark,

Came like lightning before a storm,

Though her cry was injured it resounded warm.

"Together we shall be once more!"

And the two met near the shore,

Of steel grey water grasping grief

,And the Dark Ones emerged from the rocky sheath.

Thror's power broke upon their horde,

Where his Wielding powres stored,

The waves erupt upon their fleet,

But took Aquila for the drenching peat.

Sadness ripped him from the core,

His cry attacked the dawning sore,

Where Aquila's wings should rightly soar.

The eagle's blessing nevermore.

Should the Elements bless upon the day,

Come to another wolf this way,

She should beward her Gaurdian's strife,

For murder comes the savior's life.

Lights of the North in veneration,

To the glistening generation

,Of those who could not tell the flaws,

Of poor Thror's misguided, empowered claws.

Strange, huh? Yeah . . . now I have to make a slideshow for it. That means a heck of a lot of drawing before Wednesday . . .

New Skin!

VC now has it's new layout! It's Skyran, verson 2.0. You might've seen the one before . . . anyway, I couldn't get a background nor a color scheme that I liked that went with brown and green, so I picked a layout that was mostly green to begin with anyway. The lioness at the top is Skyran, for those who don't know, my daemon. I love that picture. Thank StarClan for google images!

So . . . not much to report on. I've got some new pretty neat digital art up on dA, including my updated ferret fursona, and a cuddly BarleyxRavenpaw picture.

Update on Leafstar's hair: it looks better now, that I got all the junk that the lady put in it to make it curly and stuff out. It's still not a cool Tonks look though. -Sigh-

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm glad 2008 is year--2007 was one big swamp of stuff. I started the new year off by chopping off most of my hair. I'm still getting used to it, but while I wanted short and spiky, I got something more like curly from the 80's. >.< I guess I'll just have to wait a little bit, and then go back and get to them to do it right. My mom currently loves it, but she loves because I look like Annie (from the musical).

I wanted a Tonks look. But nooooo . . . grr.

Anywho, I'm gonna work a bit on changing the layout, because I don't really like the set-up of this one. So VC enters maintenance mode!

BarleyxRaven and Woodenshipping

That probably is just you, Sandstar and Lightningstar (who is watching me type this. STALKER.). xD Hi!

Anyway, this post is nothing more to announce my two favorite shippings, Barley and Ravenpaw, and Jaypaw and his, er, Rock's stick. A dead piece of wood with cat scratches in it, for all you with very dirty minds. For those of you who are wondering why I just clarified it, you don't want to know, believe me. I blame Lightningstar.

Barely and Ravenpaw is just adorable, and that was my favorite part of Warriors Refuge, the cute picture of the two toms hunting with each other. Okay, fine, it's slash, but even the authors like it. That's gotta count for something. So, to show some of my love for this ship, I made a signature and an avatar. {X} and {x}.

Jaypaw and his . . . fallen tree branch . . . is hilarious. Especially when an awesome mod like Blackie from Ww narrates it. 0.0 Yes, it is "freaking" strange, great StarClan. I plan to release a series of DeviantART submissions featuring Jaypaw and his new love.

1. Yay! I got my paws on Dark River! It was quite good, actually, though I am rather annoyed with Hollypaw and her newfound hippie attitude. 3. Dark River read-aloud! Hilarious! I read first, it was great fun. Unfortunately, my internet decided to be spazzy, so my thing kept logging out, and I got booted off the computer with Lightningstar just as it was her turn to read, but other than that, it was awesome!

4. We made Sandstar's awesome blog, Italian Soda. You should really check out some of her graphics.

5. I am now a Mod on Daemons! I'm loving Artemis already . . . she's totally my new alter-ego.

I'm also trying to find somewhere other than Podshow.com to host my podcast, ClanCast, because podshow wants to you to be a member before you download the podcast. Unfortunately, the file is too large for places like box.net, but if anyone has a solution, let me know!

Leafstar the stocking stuffer

Okay, so I'm not actually a stocking stuffer. That would get mighty uncomfortable, and though I may fit, Skyran may be a bit too large. But I just phrased it like that, because I am, at the moment, quite stuffed, from the lunch-dinner-brunch thingymajig. Great StarClan, it was good. Naturally, I ate far too much, but still, good.

I hope everyone had a happy Christmas, and you can all now start preparing your resolution for New Years. Mine? Finish my novel, and somehow squeeze in more Role-play and art. ^^ That would make me very happy. Speaking of which, I am preparing a fun plot for my amazing guild, Warriors: the New Generation. You can check them out Here, but I think you need a neopets account. That layout is new, too. I made it yesterday, and I have to say, I can't stop drooling over it. I'm so proud of myself. -Gives self pat on the back-

Here are the latest sig/avatar sets, which I made for new characters in two Role-plays:

Erebus Styx (Professor of Arithmancy at Vampiori) avatar, signature.

Artemis Hawke & Skyran (young scholars of Jordan College) avatar, signature.

Syx is the ebil Arithmancy Prof at Vampiori School of the Dark Arts, which is Hogwarts 200 years after Voldemort has taken over. It's in the awesome Role-play site, The Time Turners. Skyran is Artemis's daemon for the new but totally pwnsome His Dark Materials Role-play, Daemons.

Hello, everyone!

Those of you reading this may be bewildered visitors from WarriorsCreation's, surprised friends from Warriors: the New Generation, or you may have simply been curious and clicked on a link somewhere that brought you here.

I'm Leafstar, also known as Leafy, and this is my blog/site now. I previously ran WarriorsCreation, but lately, running a large fan-site has just been a stressful, crazy, and not completely fulfilling job. I may start it up again later, but for now, I thought I might just have some fun with graphics and art and blogging and role-playing.

Who knows? Maybe now I'll get to finish that novel I started writing so long ago.

Anyway, this is by blog, though I may have to come up with a creative title for a cross between a blog and a site. Sog? Ew, no. Maybe blite. I'll think of one. Verde Creations was sort of a random name I chose. Verde, those who don't know, means "green" in Spanish, which I thought was fitting due to my names and likeness to it. Creations was something I tacked on the end, like a tribute to WarriorsCreation, and how the purpose of my online adventures is really to further my creativity and its outlets.

So, welcome to the opening of my new blite, sog, blog, whichever you'd like to call it.
